Planting Trees and Parade Pictures

Not a lot has happened around here that is out of the ordinary. Mom finally got the Bear Paw Parade pictures from Grandma so everyone can see them.
Last weekend I did get to plant a tree with Grandpa. The tree was my size but he says that it will grow to be bigger than the house! I even got to shovel some dirt with him!
After we planted the tree I saw the dogs getting a drink from the hose so I thought I would try. It was nice cold water! I was already wet so I told Grandma that I wanted to play in the water so she held the hose up and the dogs and I ran through it. It was fun!

4th of July Camping, BBQ, and Bear Paw

It has been SO busy around here lately. Momma has been working on her finals, which she says is something she has to pass for graduation... they sound kind of scary.... so she hasn't had time to write. I kept bugging her and bugging her, so finally she is sitting down to write my blog.
We went camping on the 4th of July weekend to Tosolna Wilderness Lodge just past Eureka and not quite to Tok. (Momma told me that Tok is where Aunt Amanda and Uncle Shaggy race their cars.) It was a long drive, almost three hours! e got to see Matanuska Glacier on the way. We stopped to take pictures of this giant white thing that was really far away. Moma thought it was really cool but I didn't get why she was so excited about a giant white things. Our walls at home are giant.... and white..... and she doesn't get excited about those. Maybe I'll understand when I'm older.
We stopped at the Eureka lodge for some lunch and we had a yummy burgers. I shared with Momma and Kirby like always. They tasted awesome! At Eureka lodge Momma saw a funny sign and said that if I didn't behave she was going to do what the sign said.W After Eurkea we headed to the camp ground.
When we got to the camp ground I got to help Mr. Dave stabalize the camper by putting this loud tool, I think Momma said it was called a drill, into this hole and making these silver legs come out of the camper onto the ground. Mr. Dave said that those silver legs would make the camper stable enough for all of us to be inside it.
After camp was set up we got to explore. Our campground was right nere the river so Momma wouldn't let go of my hand. Momma didn't trust me that I wouldn't go swimming in the lake. ;) All of us were thinking we should have stopped by Walmart on the way to pick up a baby leash when Mr. Dave had an idea. He brought me into the camper and when we came out he had made a baby leash out of two of Crockett's leashes! It was uncomfortable but it worked and Momma finally let me run around a bit. They also had the tent up so I could be zipped up inside of it and run without the leash.
Later in the day, Mr. Dave caught some little fishes. I do not remember what they were called but man were they slimy and wiggily. He let me touch them and everytime I poked it with my finger it flipped out and tried to get out of his hands. I wanted to keep it but he said that it had to go back into the river.
We had dinner cooked over an open fire. We had meat patties, potatoes and corn wrapped up in tin foil and set on these wire bars that went over the fire. It took awhile to cook but when it was finally done we sat down at the picnick table and ate dinner. Momma let me sit on the bench like a big boy, by myself, and eat. Crockett was underneath my feet, ready to catch anything that fell. He is a funny dog!
After dinner we had something called a S'more. Kirby made me one and when Momma said "Look what Kirby has for you" I turned my head and said "WOAH!" I took it from Kirby's hands and tried it. IT WAS SO GGGGGGOOOOOOOODDDDD!!!!!!!!!! It had graham crackers (which I love), chocolate (WHICH I LOVE), and this gooey white food called marshmellows that were roasted over the fire. I got one all for me! It took me about twenty minutes to eat but it was delicious. I wanted another but Momma said one was enough.
Kirby, Momma, Eryn and I went home the next day (4th of July, Sunday) instead of staying the whole weekend out at the campground. Eryn wasn't feeling good and I was crabby because my teeth were hurting me so we headed home. On the way home we stopped by Eureka Lodge again for food. This time Momma wasn't really hungry so we split a grilled sandwich. Momma said I wasn't behaving very well because I was screeching, kicking my shoes off and hitting, so she took me out to the car and gave me a spanking. I didn't think I was behaving bad but Momma usually knows best. When we went back inside I behaved extra well so I got to try some of everyone's food. It was good.
On the long drive home Momma was singing her head off, like always, in the front seat. We were listening to Eryn's Ipod so there was a little of everything. Thank goodness she didn't start singing Phantom of the Opera when it came on! After awhile I fell asleep and didn't wake up until we got home.
When we got home Momma showed me these little noise makers that pop when you pulled the string.... I am still unsure about that. Maybe I'll try it again next year.
On Monday we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a BBQ. Aunt Amanda and Uncle Shaggy were there, and Uncle Shaggy was grilling like always. He is the best griller... but don't tell Grandpa I said that! And, as a big surprise, Aunt Ali and Milo were there too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited to see Ali and Milo that I peed myself a little bit! And Ali's friend, Corrin, was there too. Momma said that Ali and Corrin were best friends ever since middle school.... that seems like a long time!
While we were waiting for the food to be done, I got to play outside with everyone. I was even eating sand out of my sandbox, much to Momma's dislike. I got so dirty before dinner, and then made a mess during dinner, that Grandma decided to give me a bath before I went home. After she took my diaper off I managed to wiggle away and ran into the kitchen. Everyone was laughing because I was butt naked. I thought it was funny seeing them all laugh but then Momma came and caught me and made me go upstairs into the bath tub.
On Friday after Momma got off work I went to this carnival thing called Bear Paw. It is a little celebration for Eagle River. We walked around and looked at all these crazy cars, nothing like the car that Momma drives. She said that they are called "Muscle Cars" and she showed me one that was called a mustang that she likes. Cars sure do have funny names. Then we walked around the carnival and Momma played a game and won me a stuffed sharpi doll. She said that when she was little she had two of those types of dogs, named Bonnie and Clyde, and that the doll looked just like Clyde. As we were heading towards the music we ran into Kirby. He was doing traffic control for the car show. I overheard him and Momma talking, he told her that the UAA ROTC members were volunteering to do the traffic control. That must be a fun job. Then we went to the mainplace and got a hotdog and chips to eat while we were listening to music. Members of the Air Force Pacific Band were playing. Momma said that she knew the bassist and had played in a band with him during Vacation Bible School. I thought that was pretty cool.
Saturday I went to the Bear Paw again with Grandma and Grandpa. I got to see a parade! They were throwing things at everyone and I wanted a beach ball but I did not get one. I did get a balloon though! It is red and I keep trying to pop it but it won't pop. I think it is funny, everytime I try and pop the balloon Momma sticks her fingers in her ears. She said that she doesn't like the sound of balloons popping.
Sunday we went to the Bear Paw for a third time, this time with Kirby, to look at the motorcycle show. Before we went to see the motorcycles I got my face painted. I sat on my Momma's lap and held really still. this lady put wet stuff on my face, paint, in the shape of a wolf paw. It was fun! After that we headed to the motorcycles. There were lots of cool motorcycles and we even got to vote for one. Momma voted for an orange "hog" as she said it. I don't know why she called it a "hog"... I thought it was a motorcycle, not a pig....... oh well. After the motorcycle show we went to the carnival again. Grandpa had given Momma some money to buy me cotton candy. IT WAS AWESOME! It had a weird texture but I liked that it melted in my mouth. As I was trying it I was so entralled with a roller coaster that I couldn't even look at Momma for a picture. I wanted to go on it but Momma said NO WAY and that I was WAY too little to go on something like that. Momma is such a party pooper! We walked around the carnival for awhile and played a few games. Kirby played a shooting game that Momma said was "rigged"... but I don't understand what that means. Then Momma played a dart game where she had to throw a sharp dart at balloons taped on the wall to win a prize. Adults play such strange games. Anyway, she won me a blow up hammer. :)
After the carnival we met up with Kirby's Momma and Daddy and sister to eat at Garcia's. I was so hyper after all that cotton candy that I was throwing things, screaming, trying to stand up in my high chair, steal water, and force feed Kirby chips. I couldn't help it, the cotton candy made me crazy!!! After the food came I was better. By the time we left, Mr. Dave picked me up out of my high chair and Momma gasped! I didn't let her know that I was wet, so when he picked me up I had peed down the entire backside of my leg. I didn't want Mom to take me away from the action so I didn't tell her. She was a little frustrated and put me in the stroller to walk home. Oh well, some days we get along, other's we don't. That's ok, life with Momma is fun anyway!

A little Bit of Ordinary

Things have been pretty calm around here lately. Momma and I have spent a a lot of time together. We haven't done anything in particular, just being together. We did hang out at Grandma's house for awhile, just me and Momma. We played inside and we played outside. Momma showed me Grandma's garden. I found hedgehogs in there! When I tried to walk into the garden Momma laughed and helped me walk along the bricks. Grandma pulled up right as we were doing that... Grandma didn't think it was as funny. I also explored the trees in Grandma and Grandpa's front yard. They are confusing... they are my size.
I helped Momma do some chores too. She took the garbage out and I went under the sink and got a new garbage bag out. I tried to put it into the garbage can but I had some troubles. Momma had to help me with it.
I also decided that I did not like how Momma set up my nap area. While she was doing schoolwork I flipped the mattress outside of the area, got rid of all the blankets, toys, and books. When Momma heard a "thunk" she came up and saw what I did. She didn't quite know what to say so she took a picture instead.
I went looking at garage sales today with Grandma and Momma. Grandma bought me a little basketball hoop for her house and a football shaped toy box for my room at our apartment. They are so cool! I love playing with the basketball hoop. Momma says I'm going to be an all-star one day, just like her. :)

Indestructable

I gave Momma quite the scare earlier this morning. I was running through the apartment and went flying into a plastic tote container. I busted my face.... there is a big scratch between my eyes and quite an impressive welt underneath my left eye. Momma says that there is going to be a black eye. She is thankful that she doesn't have to go to the emergency room. I don't try and go to the hospital, my feet just get ahead of my thought process sometimes. Anyway, we are at Grandma's house right now. Grandma felt bad so she wanted me to come over to give me a bath and make me feel better. Grandma said that Grandpa was supposed to give me an ice cream sandwich. I never got it..... that just means he'll have to double his dose of cookies on Thursday! :P

A Lot of Catching Up to Do

Ok, so A LOT has happened this past two weeks but Momma forgot to post last Sunday. I kept bugging her all week so now she has to do an extra long post! Let's see if she can remember everything.
I went camping in the back yard in a tent and had a blast. I even helped set it up. :) Momma let me play inside it before it was bed time. To make me feel more at home, Momma put the pack and play in the tent for me to sleep in. I slept all night and made Momma super proud! She said that I did so well that we are going to go actual camping the 4th of July weekend... what ever a 4th of July is. I am so excited!
When I was spending the day with Grandma we made no-bake cookies. Then Grandma dropped some off for Momma at work. I made one especially for her. It was a little Atticus-sized cookie! :)
On Sunday Momma, Grandma and me went to the Farmer's Market downtown. We saw some people Momma knew and she talked forever! I thought I was never going to get to the funnel cakes that Momma promised. We did some walking around and Momma stopped to talk... again... to a couple of guys raising money to build some sort of park for snowboarding. It doesn't make sense to me yet but Momma said that was awesome and that in a few years she's going to teach me to snowboard just like she does. After all the talking Momma finally took me to get the funnel cake. I was unsure about it right at first but then I LOVED IT!! It was messy, sugary and awesome!
After the Farmer's Market Grandma paid for me to go on a pony ride. I was afraid at first but after the first few laps I was riding like a pro.... with Momma's help. The pony's name was Ninja! I can't wait to go on another pony ride. Grandma said that maybe I can go on another one when her and Grandpa go back to the Farmer's Market.
Grandma also took me to go visit Aunt Amanda and Uncle Shaggy. I got to look at the fish and play with all the cats. Aunt Amanda told Momma that the cats were fine with me until I took my socks and shoes off and made myself at home.
Momma and I also attended Eryn's Girl Scout Silver Award. It was a pretty ceremony but an hour to sit still and quiet is way too long for someone of my energetic stamina. Momma got a little frustrated but we made it through and then she let me try some raspberry cheesecake. The cheesecake part was awesome, but not the raspberry swirls.
We also had steaks and cake one night for Aunt Amanda's and Uncle Shaggy's 1st anniversary. The cake was awesome. They tried to get me to eat this fruit salad stuff but I didn't like it. It was a very weird texture.
A couple of days later Grandpa gave me a giant pixi sticks. I didn't like them too much but they were sure fun to play with. It was like this sweet bitter, crystal like powder that was blue. I dumped the spoon all over my face and everyone started laughing. I gave some to Casey and they laughed harder and Momma told me "no". (Sometimes Momma can be a party pooper!)

Running and Swimming

Today was so much fun!!! Momma and I went running/walking first thing this morning. She says that she needs to get back into shape so she can go on hikes with me this summer. Either way, it was a blast. After we came back home we got cleaned up and headed to church.
At church I was playing in the toddler room and I pooped. I didn't fuss and tried not to let the ladies watching me know. I didn't want them disturbing Momma during the service. I was doing a good job but then I heard "WOAH! Atticus, you smell bad! You pooped, didn't you? We're going to go get a diaper from your Momma". Then Momma came and got me. She didn't have any diapers or wipes with her so we ended up going home early.
Then we went to H2 Oasis for Dannie's birthday party. It was a blast! I went swimming, down water slides, in this stream type thing. There was so much to do but Momma said I had to be bigger to do anything without her or another adult holding my hand. Momma's no fun! I wanted to run and play on the pirate ship.

The Lady Charmer at IHOP

Mrs. Wendy and Eryn took Me, Kirby and Mommy out to IHOP for lunch today. When we were there I heard someone say "say hi to Atticus" and then heard someone yelling my name across the room. It was one of the little girls from the day care room attached to mine. She was saying "ATTICUS!!! ATTICUS!!!" and she was smiling and waving. I blushed and hid my face behind my hand and then said hi. It was nice to see a friend at IHOP.
I am getting anxious for Grandma and Grandpa to come home from Iowa. It is really confusing to be staying at their house without them being here. I miss my own room too. Things are odd now, and I would just like them to go back to normal. I miss giving Grandma hugs and playing with Grandpa on the swing and the sandbox. I miss them.
