Planting Trees and Parade Pictures

Not a lot has happened around here that is out of the ordinary. Mom finally got the Bear Paw Parade pictures from Grandma so everyone can see them.
Last weekend I did get to plant a tree with Grandpa. The tree was my size but he says that it will grow to be bigger than the house! I even got to shovel some dirt with him!
After we planted the tree I saw the dogs getting a drink from the hose so I thought I would try. It was nice cold water! I was already wet so I told Grandma that I wanted to play in the water so she held the hose up and the dogs and I ran through it. It was fun!

4th of July Camping, BBQ, and Bear Paw

It has been SO busy around here lately. Momma has been working on her finals, which she says is something she has to pass for graduation... they sound kind of scary.... so she hasn't had time to write. I kept bugging her and bugging her, so finally she is sitting down to write my blog.
We went camping on the 4th of July weekend to Tosolna Wilderness Lodge just past Eureka and not quite to Tok. (Momma told me that Tok is where Aunt Amanda and Uncle Shaggy race their cars.) It was a long drive, almost three hours! e got to see Matanuska Glacier on the way. We stopped to take pictures of this giant white thing that was really far away. Moma thought it was really cool but I didn't get why she was so excited about a giant white things. Our walls at home are giant.... and white..... and she doesn't get excited about those. Maybe I'll understand when I'm older.
We stopped at the Eureka lodge for some lunch and we had a yummy burgers. I shared with Momma and Kirby like always. They tasted awesome! At Eureka lodge Momma saw a funny sign and said that if I didn't behave she was going to do what the sign said.W After Eurkea we headed to the camp ground.
When we got to the camp ground I got to help Mr. Dave stabalize the camper by putting this loud tool, I think Momma said it was called a drill, into this hole and making these silver legs come out of the camper onto the ground. Mr. Dave said that those silver legs would make the camper stable enough for all of us to be inside it.
After camp was set up we got to explore. Our campground was right nere the river so Momma wouldn't let go of my hand. Momma didn't trust me that I wouldn't go swimming in the lake. ;) All of us were thinking we should have stopped by Walmart on the way to pick up a baby leash when Mr. Dave had an idea. He brought me into the camper and when we came out he had made a baby leash out of two of Crockett's leashes! It was uncomfortable but it worked and Momma finally let me run around a bit. They also had the tent up so I could be zipped up inside of it and run without the leash.
Later in the day, Mr. Dave caught some little fishes. I do not remember what they were called but man were they slimy and wiggily. He let me touch them and everytime I poked it with my finger it flipped out and tried to get out of his hands. I wanted to keep it but he said that it had to go back into the river.
We had dinner cooked over an open fire. We had meat patties, potatoes and corn wrapped up in tin foil and set on these wire bars that went over the fire. It took awhile to cook but when it was finally done we sat down at the picnick table and ate dinner. Momma let me sit on the bench like a big boy, by myself, and eat. Crockett was underneath my feet, ready to catch anything that fell. He is a funny dog!
After dinner we had something called a S'more. Kirby made me one and when Momma said "Look what Kirby has for you" I turned my head and said "WOAH!" I took it from Kirby's hands and tried it. IT WAS SO GGGGGGOOOOOOOODDDDD!!!!!!!!!! It had graham crackers (which I love), chocolate (WHICH I LOVE), and this gooey white food called marshmellows that were roasted over the fire. I got one all for me! It took me about twenty minutes to eat but it was delicious. I wanted another but Momma said one was enough.
Kirby, Momma, Eryn and I went home the next day (4th of July, Sunday) instead of staying the whole weekend out at the campground. Eryn wasn't feeling good and I was crabby because my teeth were hurting me so we headed home. On the way home we stopped by Eureka Lodge again for food. This time Momma wasn't really hungry so we split a grilled sandwich. Momma said I wasn't behaving very well because I was screeching, kicking my shoes off and hitting, so she took me out to the car and gave me a spanking. I didn't think I was behaving bad but Momma usually knows best. When we went back inside I behaved extra well so I got to try some of everyone's food. It was good.
On the long drive home Momma was singing her head off, like always, in the front seat. We were listening to Eryn's Ipod so there was a little of everything. Thank goodness she didn't start singing Phantom of the Opera when it came on! After awhile I fell asleep and didn't wake up until we got home.
When we got home Momma showed me these little noise makers that pop when you pulled the string.... I am still unsure about that. Maybe I'll try it again next year.
On Monday we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a BBQ. Aunt Amanda and Uncle Shaggy were there, and Uncle Shaggy was grilling like always. He is the best griller... but don't tell Grandpa I said that! And, as a big surprise, Aunt Ali and Milo were there too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited to see Ali and Milo that I peed myself a little bit! And Ali's friend, Corrin, was there too. Momma said that Ali and Corrin were best friends ever since middle school.... that seems like a long time!
While we were waiting for the food to be done, I got to play outside with everyone. I was even eating sand out of my sandbox, much to Momma's dislike. I got so dirty before dinner, and then made a mess during dinner, that Grandma decided to give me a bath before I went home. After she took my diaper off I managed to wiggle away and ran into the kitchen. Everyone was laughing because I was butt naked. I thought it was funny seeing them all laugh but then Momma came and caught me and made me go upstairs into the bath tub.
On Friday after Momma got off work I went to this carnival thing called Bear Paw. It is a little celebration for Eagle River. We walked around and looked at all these crazy cars, nothing like the car that Momma drives. She said that they are called "Muscle Cars" and she showed me one that was called a mustang that she likes. Cars sure do have funny names. Then we walked around the carnival and Momma played a game and won me a stuffed sharpi doll. She said that when she was little she had two of those types of dogs, named Bonnie and Clyde, and that the doll looked just like Clyde. As we were heading towards the music we ran into Kirby. He was doing traffic control for the car show. I overheard him and Momma talking, he told her that the UAA ROTC members were volunteering to do the traffic control. That must be a fun job. Then we went to the mainplace and got a hotdog and chips to eat while we were listening to music. Members of the Air Force Pacific Band were playing. Momma said that she knew the bassist and had played in a band with him during Vacation Bible School. I thought that was pretty cool.
Saturday I went to the Bear Paw again with Grandma and Grandpa. I got to see a parade! They were throwing things at everyone and I wanted a beach ball but I did not get one. I did get a balloon though! It is red and I keep trying to pop it but it won't pop. I think it is funny, everytime I try and pop the balloon Momma sticks her fingers in her ears. She said that she doesn't like the sound of balloons popping.
Sunday we went to the Bear Paw for a third time, this time with Kirby, to look at the motorcycle show. Before we went to see the motorcycles I got my face painted. I sat on my Momma's lap and held really still. this lady put wet stuff on my face, paint, in the shape of a wolf paw. It was fun! After that we headed to the motorcycles. There were lots of cool motorcycles and we even got to vote for one. Momma voted for an orange "hog" as she said it. I don't know why she called it a "hog"... I thought it was a motorcycle, not a pig....... oh well. After the motorcycle show we went to the carnival again. Grandpa had given Momma some money to buy me cotton candy. IT WAS AWESOME! It had a weird texture but I liked that it melted in my mouth. As I was trying it I was so entralled with a roller coaster that I couldn't even look at Momma for a picture. I wanted to go on it but Momma said NO WAY and that I was WAY too little to go on something like that. Momma is such a party pooper! We walked around the carnival for awhile and played a few games. Kirby played a shooting game that Momma said was "rigged"... but I don't understand what that means. Then Momma played a dart game where she had to throw a sharp dart at balloons taped on the wall to win a prize. Adults play such strange games. Anyway, she won me a blow up hammer. :)
After the carnival we met up with Kirby's Momma and Daddy and sister to eat at Garcia's. I was so hyper after all that cotton candy that I was throwing things, screaming, trying to stand up in my high chair, steal water, and force feed Kirby chips. I couldn't help it, the cotton candy made me crazy!!! After the food came I was better. By the time we left, Mr. Dave picked me up out of my high chair and Momma gasped! I didn't let her know that I was wet, so when he picked me up I had peed down the entire backside of my leg. I didn't want Mom to take me away from the action so I didn't tell her. She was a little frustrated and put me in the stroller to walk home. Oh well, some days we get along, other's we don't. That's ok, life with Momma is fun anyway!
